451 Requested action aborted

Just purchased and installed Outlook 2010.

I am on a laptop, connecting through my wireless company for inernet access and everytime I send an email (except of course when I called into Norton) I get this response "451 Requested action aborted" on a pop up message saying it is from Norton. I have read various things saying this is just temporary, to call your ISP because if it continues it isn't Norton. My problem is everytime this happens and I take off my Norton email protection through Norton Internet Security the messages go through no problem. Please help me out on this as I seem to have to different answers from various sources

Re: 451 Requested action aborted

Hi laptopmike,

The 451 message is from your ISP, but is displayed by Norton.  The cause of the actual issue may or may not be Norton.  What port do you use for sending outgoing messages?  Norton is only able to scan port 25, so if you are using another port as required by your ISP, you should disable Outgoing Email Scanning.  Norton scanning on an unsupported port can sometimes lead to problems like this.

If you disable Outgoing Email Scanning, you will probably want to eliminate the "Fix Now" warning you will get from Norton.  To do this, open the main Norton window and hover the mouse cursor over the words "Email Protection."  Click "Ignore" in the pop-up dialog to have Norton stop alerting you to the status of this setting.
