Re: About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch

Yes, I've rebooted my computer

There aren't coFFPlgn_2011_7_1_3 folder, only have coFFPlgn_2011_7_0_8 folder in %allusersprofile%\Application Data\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\NIS_18.1.0.37\

This is <em:maxVersion>5.*</em:maxVersion> from install.rdf file from the above location.

And the file version of %systemdrive%\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Engine\18.6.0.29\coFFPlgn.dll is 2011.7.0.8

May be the update has been ignored somehow, however, it still reports success status on LiveUpdate. Is there any way to re-run the Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch ?

Re: About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch

Gotcha!! FF patch hasn't applied then :smileysad:

i'll think of some workaround to fix your issue other than reinstalling product, but can't say ASAP :( someone else could give you the better idea.

?? Have you find any *.tmp files in %systemdrive%\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Engine\18.6.0.29\?

btw, whoever has more insight on LiveUpdate issue trouble shooting, should help you on that particular question you asked.

Hello all,

I tried the solution of PapauZ but failed. In the screenshot of noghere, the newest version of Norton Toolbar must be 2011.7.1.3 and Symantec IPS 3.1, my FF6 only have Norton Toolbar 2011.7.0.8 and Symantec IPS 3.0, seems like the update doesn't work.

Yes, the IPS must be 3.1:

Re: About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch

seems to be a memory leak in this version...my firefox mem usage very quickly climbs to about 1.8G.  admittedly i have a lot of tabs open, but without the toolbar the mem usage is only 900M or so.

Re: About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch

I have reinstalled NIS, everything is ok now . I think LiveUpdate may be having some problems in the previous update.

Re: About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch

It is not funny anymore.:smileymad:

Mozilla updated Firefox from 5.0.1 to FF6.0.

Symantec LiveUpdate has updated the corresponding coFFPlgn.dll to version 2011.7.0.8, and the IPS to version 3.0.

The correct versions, 2011.7.1.3 and 3.1 respectively, are nowhere to be seen on my computer. Even after several LiveUpdates.

And, yes, I did re-start my computer when the LiveUpdate asked for it.

This problem is the same now as it was for the previous version changes. Then it was a nightmare to get it right, and I never identified what caused theproblem nor what procedure mysteriously fixed it.

Why does my  NIS 2011 (18.6.0.29) LiveUpdates not produce the correct versions?

Regards,

DKN

Re: About Firefox 6.0 Compatibility Patch

hello dnd,

i did not see such issue, but let me try to find if memory leaked due to norton bar or just the FF6.0.. i'm avid user of FF and  IMHO, i have seen that FF has the chronic memory hogging issues, that's not very new.
