Hello nickryan and welcome to the Community. If my answer misleads you, I'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct me. When you purchase a software key, you are paying for another years protection service. This will include all upgrades and new versions. If you are happy with NIS 2011, keep it. You will lose all the improvements that NIS 2012 has. You can even use that key to upgrade to the new NIS 2013, when it comes out. Wait until you have a couple of days left, on your current subscription, and then use the renew feature to enter you new key code. That way you will not lose very many days of protection. Again I hope I didn't mislead you.

nick,
Just adding to the above -- yes you can extend your 2011 subscription using a KEY from a 2012 product you have purchased without having to upgrade to the 2012 version.
But as PCC says don't use the key until a couple of days before the present subscription expires.

or he can go too live chat and ues the new key and if he ask the live chat vary vary nic may be that can add the rest of the time he have too the new key so if the new key comes with 366 days and if he was like 50 or 100 days to go he will have some where a round 400 or some in days

Thank you guys, i changed from KIS to NIS 1 year ago, and this is the first time i renew a NIS key, so it confused me a little bit, now it's crystal clear. BTW, only 2 days subscription left :D
