Adware.webwise?

I left my computer for about 15 minutes and when I got back I had a pop up from Norton saying it found 10 files called Adware.webwise.

From looking at the info it looks like it is a tracking cookie of some sort?

I read the info about it and it seems that it is from my ISP, or is it from a website I visted? I'm not sure.

I'm just wondering if it's dangerous or not, and if I should be concerned.

I did a live update and a full scan with NIS 2012 and NPE. both found nothing.

Any help would be greatly apperciated, thanks in advance.

It sounds like an Idle Time Quick Scan may have detected this.  If Norton advised that the files were removed you should be OK.  It doesn't sound like a particularly dangerous program.  If you start seeing advertisments that look like they may be the result of this, then you might want to investigate further.  Otherwise, I think you can assume that Norton handled it.

Re: Adware.webwise?

Yes, it is indeed a type of tracking cookie, one you seem to get only with certain ISP:s. In any case, it is not malware, and it can't harm or hurt your system. It's more of an annoyance than a danger. Most security software just ignore it.
