Trend Micro was our former security program. I hated it. When the renewal came up, I let our protection lapse while I looked at the competition and tried to decide on a new program. I finally decided on NIS, but about the same time, my system picked up a Redirect virus. That was why I already have TDSSKiller downloaded on my system. It appeared to take out the virus.
However, when I went to uninstall Trend Micro prior to installing NIS - it would not uninstall for anything. I ended up downloading a program called Max Uninstaller which seemed to do a good job of removing it. From there, I downloaded NIS with no apparent problems.
I am not sure where this Trend Micro file is from as I thought it was gone, but I recently checked 'show hidden folders' so perhaps it was hiding? At any rate, is it okay to just uninstall it now?

step 4. (a)
Please read carefully and Slowly
Please scan with ESET next
I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
If you think a log should have been generated then go to C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Online Scanner\log.txt to find it.

I was wondering if the ESET Smart Installer might be a viable option, but I see no button or link for it on the page. How should I proceed from here?

If you use Firefox or Chrome to load the online scanner, the smart installer download link appears

Finally got it! I ended up using Firefox instead of IE & doing the install from there. I noticed to my dismay that my google links are still being redirected when I use Firefox after I thought that TDSSKiller had effectively taken care of that Redirect bug from 2 months ago, but at least it looks like ESET found its hiding place (assuming that's what #6 of this report is referring to).
C:\Program Files\Application Updater\ApplicationUpdater.exe probably a variant of Win32/Toolbar.Widgi application

Yes, it said that it had found 7 threats & then printed that list at the end. It offered me a button to "Copy to clipboard" which I did and then pasted it here. I thought it was a lot - is it not that bad after all?
