This is excatly what I meant. I had this error before and reinstalling was the solution of it. This is the 2nd time I have this error. This could not be the solution for all the time. I don't want to install and reinstall always NIS 2009 (you are right it's easy, but waste of time). I'm using a lot of programs on my computer. What a mess it would be when all of this programs always force me to install/reinstall? This could not be the solution for NIS 2009. Sorry, but Symantec has to fix it.

No. I don't use this kind of programs. My fault was, that the computer was turned off for five days. So the defintions are "too old" for the newer ones and that is the reason why they do not install. But it's Symantecs job to fix this problem!

Have you tried a manual download and install of the latest definitions?

@mijcar: You can see this when you take a look into the log. This is due to a configuration error on symantec servers (they told me at the chat). So you were lucky having no problems at all. But some users are affected (even during the beta-test of NIS 2009) by this problem. Maybe you always get a "good" server ... :-)
The problem is not solved with installing Intellegent Updater. So I had an other chat session with symantec. No effect at all. So I removed NIS 2009 and reinstalled it again. Maybe I'm now so lucky than you are.
Regards Zecke (i'll let you know, when it's coming back ...)
