I want to use a spy software with which I can monitor my PC's activities, but whichever program I download to try out, gets blocked by Norton Internet Security 2012 antivirus which I have installed .. So does anyone know of any spy software (personal or business level based) which is 'antivirus-approved' ? That is, NIS knows its a legitimate monitoring software which should NOT be blocked in any way ? It can free or commercial .. I have no problem with that ..

Hello ahmadka,
You should NEVER run two real time security packages together. They fight each other, slow down your PC and can make it unstable. However, If you require a second on demand scanner, then the Free version of Malwarebytes Anti Malware will happily sit on your computer until you wish to scan. It can be downloaded from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_
Cheers, Dave.

In addtion to what Krusty13 has already suggested.
SuperAntiSpyware (FREE) is also a highly regarded addtional on-demand malware scanner, that does not conflict with Norton products. I have found the combination of the two (SAS and MBAM) as addtional scanners very useful.

The thread starter isn't talking about a supplemental anti-spyware program!
He wants a "spy program", something like a keylogger but more substantial, to monitor the acitivites on his computer. His problem is that NIS seems to identify even legitmate such programs as malware and remove then, and he is asking if anyone known of such a program that isn't identified as a thread.

Oh OK I guess I didn't read the OP's request properly Now that I reread it, is Norton in fact blocking the program from running afterr it is installed, or is Norton merely blocking the install. Seems like most of those type of programs I have seen instruct the user to disable their AV during the install.

Ok, I too misread the question. Thanks for the update.

Hi ahmadka,
Many of the "legitimate" keyloggers can be excluded from detection. Open Norton Settings to Computer > Antivirus and SONAR Exclusions. Click Configure[+] for Signatures to Exclude from All Detections and click "Add" in the resulting Signatures Exclusion box. The Security Risks box will then appear. It will take a small eternity for this box to populate so give it a minute or two. When the list populates and the "Cancel" button is no longer grayed-out, click on the dropdown box, scoll down and select "Spyware." The entries here will show "Spyware:[Name of Program]." You should be able to find the names of some of the keyloggers you are looking at installing. Highlight one and click "Add," "Apply," and "OK." You should be able to then install that program without it being detected by Norton.
