Apostrophe virus with NIS, why?

I have NIS and get the automatic updates. I bought my computer last January and installed the latest version at that's time. I have the latest version if IE. Why did I get this apostrophe virus? Shouldn't my NIS protect me from viruses like this?

You should definitely download Mozilla Firefox. The reason I recommend Firefox is because they come out with updates and security patches every month, where IE uses outdated features and does not update very often. Firefox also has a lot of very useful add ons that IE doesn't provide.

IE does get updates if required  via the Windows Update every month (or earlier) if required.

Firefox has one big GGGRRRRRR now.   The amount of version updates, to a point they nearly come out every fortnight, so by the end of the year we could be at Firefox 40 at this rate.

It might be a SQL bug, which affects Firefox also.

Welcome,

Norton protects you from everything that it is aware of. When something new comes down the line Norton catches up as quickly as possible. Because these 'nasties' are a moving target it is impossible to predict where the next one might appear. It is even difficult to make provisions for where it might appear. This is one reason that Norton uses pulse updates. To get the latest in protection to your computer with the least delay.

The sad fact is that no one product can protect you from all threats all of the time. All of the better security products do a good job and all try to improve. I like to think that Norton is the best and for a second opinion I use Malwarebytes free scanner which you can find here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free it is NOrton compatible so keep it on your desktoop and run it from time to time. It makes a great second opinion on how free from 'nasties' your system is currently.

Keep your operating system current, keep your Norton product current and keep your chair / keyboard interface fully engaged.:smileywink: That should give you the best possible protection. We'll be here when you need us. Til then

Stay well and surf safe
