You can be sure they are aware of this I think I've seen a Norton Staffer say they are working on a fix, but bitter experience teaches never to predict a release date ...... It doesn't make it happen any quicker if you do.

This is yet the latest problem with Identity Safe in NIS 2012--a product that worked flawlessly in prior versions. I and others have posted about other issues for the last several months. This "chinese character" problem suddenly started for me yesterday--in my Gmail login, the one I use the most, every day.
It's really mystifying that Symantec managed to break a feature that worked so well in the past and just can't seem to get it right. The 19.5 upgrade was supposed to solve the many other Identity Safe snafus that were occurring...but it just added another one (the Chinese characters).
Color me disappointed...

Yep i went to login to one of my email account today using identity safe and what should have been myemail@hotmail.com actually was typed like this ♗શ켕㮿棎ⳑꎙ持剧긵泳鯈 i removed a few of those symblos or chineese letters so as not to give my email out IF someone knows how to translate that. As soon as i saw this i did not actually log in i opened my ID safe and verified the font and login name were typed correctly and they were, i then closed my browser and opened a new one and then was able to log in fine. Is this something to do with the fact that my AV is about to expire or is this something because of the most recent most F-ed up update yet?

Hi JRockZ,
It is a bug, apparently introduced by the 19.5 patch. It is currently under investigation. See the topic here:

Weird Chinese letters appear instead of the longin when I use NIS. This begun to happen with the introduction of the disability of being able to use a second login on the same website it always uses one. I cleaned everything and scanned everything but no luck. Any suggestions?

My Identity Safe fill-ins are starting to show up, spasmodically, as Chinese characters, which websites reject. Is this a Norton issue, or a personal issue? I am not seeing them in any other fill-ins that IE does.

Hi austral1957,
What you are seeing are Unicode placeholders, and this is a known issue in Norton Internet Security 2012 since the release of the 19.5 patch. What product and version are you using? See the following discussion of this issue:

Marty,
Encoding worked for me one time on one site.
I'm suffering like everyone else, waiting for a fix.
No Firefox, just IE 9.
