Re: Asian language characters

None of your solutions--which I came to on my own--work.

That's why I'm reading here to see what the problem is and why it hasn't been fixed.

Re: Asian language characters

Dear Symantec employees: WHEN will you have a fix for this? This is one more problem with Identity Safe--going on since October. Extremely frustrating and time-consuming.

Identity Safe 2012 should not have been released with these sorts of bugs. Especially since it's such a key part of the produce and worked without a hitch for years.

This should be a major top priority for the company. What gives?

Re: Asian language characters

I have the same problem, which I tried to take up with Symantec support. The support person had a one-solution-fits-all-problems approach, namely to uninstall and re-install the program. The exercise is time-consuming and pointless, and when I declined I was left waiting for a supervisor who never materialised.

There is a bug in the program and it needs to be fixed. There was no problem in previous versions. What part of "find it and fix it" doesn't Symantec understand?

There is no indication that the issue is being addressed or when users can expect a resolution.

NIS 2012 is a shoddy product, backed up by shoddy support and a nonchalant technical team.

No wonder all the jobs are going to China.

Problem appears to be fixed.

Can anyone confirm this?

I was going to wait a little longer, but so far since the update to 19.6.1.8 I have had no sign of the "Asian" characters.

Still checking, but looks good.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Re: Asian language characters

Yes, this has been broken since last September. There have been many complaints, many promises--and no action.

I've been  Norton Customer for a decade. After my subscription to NIS expires, I will be looking elsewhere.

Re: Asian language characters

While the Unicode placeholders are often encountered on web pages, I think this issue is specific to Norton with Identity Safe using the placeholders in place of the actual username and passwords stored for the site.  I have seen the issue a couple of times on my system and found that by leaving the website and returning, Norton will fill in the log-in information with the correct credentials on the second try.  I'm not sure if others are having more of an issue with this than I - for me, it is a transitory problem that happens infrequently.
