HI Andy,
I don't think you should need to do this but you might try restarting your computer after disabling email scanning just to make sure.
Best wishes.

I'm not sure if the netbook edition will be any better as far as email scanning. That part should be the same.
Have you guys tried it with the anti-spam disabled?
This system in my office is XP using outlook express and I never had any kind of slowdown with email scanning but I use NAV here. Now 2011 but 2010 for several months. NAV doesn't have the anti-spam.
When I get home I'll try it again, I have XP with NIS and use outlook express.
I have somthing else installed on my EEE, so I can't test it in that right now.

Dave,
I set email scanning to OFF and Ignore as you suggested and this morning when I got a whole bunch of overnight emails it took about 2 seconds before they began to appear in the inbox -- that's perfect as far as I'm concerned.
If that small delay is due to antispam it's acceptable to me since I value antispam, and in addition I have a large number of message rules sorting mail into different folders according to the sender so that also may account for it.
Thanks for the help -- I'm alright Jack .....

A couple of interesting developments. First, My netbook is definately operating faster, thanks to all of your suggestions, but now I noticed the same long delay on my higher end laptop (Dell Vostro, Intel Core i5, 4 GB, 1066 MHz FSB) go figure?? Secondly, I got back a reply from Symantec that I would need to buy a copy of NIS Netbook, that my 3 computer subscription didn't apply. I replied that I would like a reply from a supervisor and that I didn't think their policy was fair. We'll see what they come back with. Andy

Thanks for the feedback -- no idea what's causing the change on your other machine.
Keep up the pressure on Norton <g> I don't think the netbook edition comes as a single PC version does it? If it is only 3 PC then ask them how many people are going to have 3 netbooks and that the simple answer would be to make the same KEY work on both -- I doubt they would lose that much money but I've no data on how many netbook editions are sold.

Hi Andy,
I agree with Hugh on this. There have been quite a number of requests to Symantec to have a "shared" key between the regular and Netbook editions of NIS.
Here is day hoping that one day they will! ![]()
As a side note, I'm curious if you see the following toolbar when you are replying to the thread here.
If you don't see this toolbar, please let me know and I can help resolve it.
Best wishes.

Hi All, Just got an email for a Symantec 'Case Manager' he thanked me profusely for my input and then said no to a netbook key. As a consolation prize for "the issue you have faced" he gave me an extra 30 days of subscription. They must be hearing about this issue, may someone else can email them.
PS. Allen I get the same header.
Andy

microtube,
Thanks for the feedback -- as they say: "Better than a slap in the face with a wet fish!"
And if you haven't please post a request for the dual purpose KEY in Norton Ideas here.
And as they say in Chicago -- Vote Early; Vote Often ......
