I need to delete NIS 2011 currently running on my computer and then reinstall NIS 2011.
What would be the most thorough and stable means of doing this. I've printed the Product key for NIS 2011.

Uninstall it through add/remove, reboot, and then reinstall. Use of the removal tool should not be necessary unless you have a corrupted installation. Before removal, back up your logins to the desktop and sign out so you can restore them later. The computer will probably pick up the key automatically.
If the present installation is corrupted by a malware infection, do not remove it. It may not remove properly and you may be worse off.
If your Norton is damaged for some other reason, and may interfere with a clean installation, use the removal tool after using add/remove.

If you can copy / paste your key into a notepad file and have that available on the computer that will save you a lot of trouble when putting the KEY into the new installation -- just copy/paste it in and NIS will reformat it to the groups ....
You can copy it from your MyNortonAccouont if you click on the entry there for your installation and that will show the KEY

Whichever makes you feel good -- personally I don't normally disconnect but I take care not to have anything automatic going on that might access the internet -- I always have my email client set not to download automtically but only on command -- and I don't do anything while the installation is going on but watch and obey instructions!
Many installers want to update as part of the installation process anyway and you will certainly want to run LiveUpate as soon as the installation completes and you reboot.
