Bing is on its way!

I have just learned that this Wednesday Microsoft will be rolling out its all new search engine known as BING! After Microsoft's previous attempts at having its own search engine (live search and the attempted purchase of yahoo) Microsoft is back and ready to take off the gloves against Google with a new search engine and a reved up ad campaign!

Though I am trying to remember, are elephants really scared of mice or is that just an old wive's tale :smileysurprised:?

hmmmm...:smileywink: :smileyvery-happy:

Alright I think we all know how this is going to turn out so lets at least give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt. So anyone know if norton safeweb will be compatible with BING when it is released next week? Figure I might as well try it out and see what all the "excitement" (cough.. cough) is about.

Re: Bing is on its way!

In case anyone is wondering just what on earth bing is, I know I was, I found a pretty good article by CNET that talks about the pros and cons of bing. You can find it at the following link.

BING was originally codenamed KUMO and from what I hear it is going to be Microsoft's official replacement for LIVE SEARCH beginning June 3rd. I would assume that since it is replacing live search norton safeweb would also be compatible with it, but you never know.

Re: Bing is on its way!

I just found another rather interesting article about BING here. It is by a third party website that studies search engines. It gives you side by side comparison images of what some common searches are going to look like both on BING, and on GOOGLE. This article's author along with several others got the privilage of trying out the BING search engine before its scheduled June 3rd release. Check it out.

Well how am I supposed to know if you are dumb or not:smileysurprised:?!

...LOL! Hey I am just kidding.

All I really want to know is if BING is set to be compatible with norton safe search. Though I just couldn't help but poke fun at Microsoft for trying to compete with Google :smileyvery-happy:, and when I did not get any answers to my question I simply posted some updated news flashes about BING so that this post would remain on the first page and not dissapear into nomads land.

Re: Bing is on its way!

It is unlikely, I would think that Bing is going to be compatible for a while, considering how long Chrome has been out and not supported.  Cinek does have a point in that it is not terribly relevant at the moment and perhaps the thread should end here, at least until it is readily available.  Other users have little comment to make at the moment.

Bing!

Looks like Microsoft rolled out its Windows Live Search replacement, Bing (what a horrible name imho).  It also looks like Bing breaks the Safe Search RAG icons to the side of search results.  Any ETA on when search will be fixed for this guy?

Re: Bing!

[ Edited ]

I just tried out Bing and it seems ... well, different you could say. Don't get me wrong. It is rather helpful that Bing seperates results into categories on the left of the page and to the right of the results it shows previews of what is in each result. I doubt Bing will ever be my preferred search engine though.

Also, any news on when norton safeweb will support Bing? Just curious. I would have thought that since it is technically replacing Live Search safeweb suggestions would still work but so far bing.com still seems to be unsupported.
