Recently when I've had my 3 homepages open they suddenly go blank & i lose communication with the particular websites - if i then close all the windows and click IE they reappear no problem - this has been happening only recently & a noteworthy occurrence I've noticed is that Norton has also been sending an alert concerning "high memory usage" for the first time recently but not necessarily before the windows go blank.
I did renew my Norton Internet Security subscription recently but other than that the machine is only used for email, surfing, & using Word & Excel - no games or anything fancy - a bare bones laptop that I've kept pretty clean - and a recent full Norton scan came up clean - also, it's a Lenovo and it passed a full system and stress test using Lenovo's proprietary software that came loaded with the machine.
I'm hoping my description might jog somebody's memory as to what could be causing this ?????

Hi,
A suggestion or two. First be sure to visit the Lenovo site and confirm that you have all of the latest drivers and programs for your computer. Then I'd recommend that you download, install, update and run from the desktop Malwarebytes free scanner found here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_
stay well and surf safe

I'm running Win 7 Pro 32bit but I think I have an earlier version of IE , maybe 8 - I've had 4 clues that something's changed - I get a message that IE has a conflict and will shut down, high memory usage is flagged by Norton & points to IE, problems printing, & the frozen or blank windows .
The problem is I don't know what to do about it ? don't want to mess with uninstalling & reinstalling IE.
By the way , how do you know which version of IE you have ?

Hi,
Not as well as Malwarebytes. They focus on malware. Norton focuses on viruses. They make a good team. No one program is able to keep you threat free all of the time.
Hope this helps

I'll work in reverse this time.
With your browser open click on help -> About Internet Explorer and you shoould see an image similar to the one above.
Have you run Malwarebytes free scanner from the desktop? http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_
Download it, install it, update it and run it. Also, keep it around for a second opinion scanner. It is Norton compatible.

Dick clarified about them being complimentary but I'd prefer to add that it may not be a good idea to use Malwarebytes Paid for version which runs in the background like Norton since they may interfere with each other.
I tend to think of them as complimentary in the sense that Norton does all it can to protect you but if something slips through (or, as if often the case, is invited in by the unwitting user) then Malwarebutes is a good janitor and will often clean up the mess! But that's the FREE version that only runs when you want it to.
Norton do have some specialized tools for dealing with infections and malware after the event but from what I read these are best used by those with experience or under guidance.
FWIW

Hi, ubermax. Problems printing.... <light bulb goes on>
New Flash Player update: Version 11.2.202.233 replaces the last one that had security holes.
Reading the Release Notes: It specifically mentions printing problems - and that this update is not a patch for security vulnerabilities.
I've had this on my machine for about 48 hours - it's pretty new - and was not triggered in the Flash AutoUpdate cycle.
Worth checking out IMO - and doing the remove/reinstall for Flash - to see if this might be your problem.
Hope the fix is this easy.

I checked and I've had IE9 since April 2011 and similar to Surfer I've only had problems recently - now I'm beginning to suspect all the various automatic & non-automatic updates that I get & the possible clashes that could occur - I get updates from Lenovo, Windows, & Adobe on a regular basis - it's hard to isolate the culprit.
Even if I could go back a month & delete all updates to the current time , I would potentially also be deleting valuable updates .
I have Flash version 11.2.202.228 - Twixt mentions printing problems but I'm not sure which version he's refering to ??
