Boot.tidserv

I had this problem 2 days ago, I dont know where I got this. I had a Norton anti-virus 2011 and it detected it but the problem is that it can't remove the virus, so I tried downloading the Norton 360(trial version) and it uninstalled my previous norton anti-virus and  managed to find not just boot.tidserv but also other viruses that is a high risk and one of the viruses is named backdoor.tidserv . Norton 360 managed to quarantine the viruses and removed the boot.tidserv, but everytime I reboot, the virus pops up again saying "VIRUS REMOVE FAILED", but then when I click rescan it manage to remove boot.tidserv. My question is, did the virus totally disappeared? or do I still need to do something about it?

Hi Nestre,
Welcome to Norton Community.
You can use the tidserv removal tool for removal http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2010-090608-3309-99
Additionaly, we have a few past resolved posts on the same type of virus, please use the search box to find posts related to the issue.
One of the threads which you may find useful is http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/BOOT-Tidserv/m-p/613332/highlight/tru...

Re: Boot.tidserv

Don't use FixTDSS or NPE, people have found that out the hard way!!

It could be a variant of Pihar or MaxSS

Do NOT follow the instructions on my others threads either until you know exactly what you have as I use advanced programs and other proceedures that could make the PC worse off.

Re: Boot.tidserv

I already used the NPE, backdoor.Tidserv removal tool and TDSSkiller but all of these didn't find the boot.tidserv. Only the Norton 360(trail version) managed to find and remove the threat, that's if it is really removed. I have a question, Can a Norton 360 2012 version(not trial version) do anything about this? I really dont know what to do.. :mansad:

And For Quad:

Ohh.. I already tried the options you said in the other posts about boot.tidserv. Will it do any harm if I try your solutions?

What I do is individual scripts etc for thatusers PC no one elses, also I use more advanced programs that can cause problems to Windows afterwards

Norton can not remove or should not remove Boot.Tidserv.
