Re: Browsers don't open certain web pages!

Hello floplot

So, it does not appear even just a little curious, that a compromised install of Norton (I'll stipulate compromised Norton install) shows up as blocked URL's by MBAM.

Wonder how long Norton's been compromised...and these two URL's is the only reason OP finds out Norton is compromised.  Beyond my pay grade ....

I can see why OP was plucking away at this...Norton and MBAM were good friends until this falling out.

Imagine that

Thnx for letting me ramble.

Just needed to clear some cobwebs.

Cheers

Re: Browsers don't open certain web pages!

Hello bjm,

Yes, the problem was Malwarebytes! Desactivation of that, can not change anything. I uninstalled it. Everything was just well. I am capable to open these urls. I thought that Norton was the reason, no, I was wrong!

you know, I dont even know why we can not add urls, like these, to the exclusion list of Malwarebytes! You must uninstall it. I didnt use a removal tool, just uninstall from add-remove.floplot is right, it is in the heart of computer. It always watch what you do and where you go on the internet.

Now, because I need another antispyware on my laptop, I install it again, but I didnt activate the protection module of Malwarebytes. I'm looking for another software like Malwarebyte, but I can not decide which one. Do you have any suggestion? Something that make no change to the performance of pc.

You know it was 2 years that I had such problem. I was using ESET smart security or Kasersky and finally Norton but ALWAYES WITH Malwarebyte. I always had this problem. It seemed to me that URLs such these have really problem!

I thing (my idea), installing Mbam before and after installing Norton, does not change anything. I install always Mbam after security suite.

I like to send an email to Malwarebyte. Knowing why their product do like that.

Re: Browsers don't open certain web pages!

Hi aryames,

The free version of MalwareBytes will not cause any problems with NIS. From what I have read in the thread your problem appears to have been caused by having the paid version of MalwareBytes installed when you then installed NIS.

This could have caused conflicts which led to this problem. I have never seen any similar issue reported when NIS or any other Norton AV product is run alongside the free version of MalwareBytes.

The free version of SuperAntiSpyware is also a good on-demand scanner. As with MalwareBytes make sure you get the free version only.

Best wishes.

Re: Browsers don't open certain web pages!

Hi AllenM,

Thank you very much for your suggestion. You mean that I have to use an Antispyware with no WebShield, or real time protection or just free versions? I heared that superantiware low down the prformance. What about A2 or Spy Terminator or Emsisoft Anti-Malware? I'm searching now in the internet to choose another one.

Hi aryames

Why are you trying so hard to add another Real Time Anti Spyware product to NAV...see this Norton Product page

NAV has Spyware protection ...

MBAM and SAS are On Demand Scanners and will not conflict with NAV

Anti-malware scanners: On Demand (Not Real Time)

Download the FREE Version for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Download the FREE Edition for Superantispyware
Install apps and Update before Scan ....then you can always On-Demand Scan and feel safer.

Ask about any detection before acting on them...an occasional False Positive may sneak in....

Two real-time security applications
In general it is never a good idea to have two real-time security applications in use simultaneously.  System performance can be adversely impacted and your protection can actually be lessened, as the two programs can seriously interfere with each other's proper functioning and blocking of malicious things that try to run on your PC.

All you need with NAV is a Firewall product...next time you may want to look at Norton Internet Security which has a built in Firewall.

Hi aryames,

Spy Terminator appears to include a real-time component so you should not use this. See:

http://www.spywareterminator.com/download/download.aspx

Emisoft also appears to include real time component:

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

I think if you include the free version of MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware as on-demand scannners alongside NIS you should be in good shape.

This along with just practicing safe surfing practices and being security cautious over-all.

Best wishes.

Allen

Re: Browsers don't open certain web pages!

bjm and AllenM,

Thank You for your comments. Ok, I will use both of them, but free versions.

To bjm: I have Norton Internet Security 2010 and I'm happy!

Thank You both again.

Regards,

Aryames

Re: Browsers don't open certain web pages!

Hi aryames

My fault...

Lost track of product again...Oooops !

You may not have had a conflict with earlier versions of other Security products ...but, NIS 2010 is so far ahead of the other guys and NIS knows it's the best ... so, your just crowding NIS with another Real Time product.

Keep your apps patched ...and watch where you click.

Hello

As I said earlier in the thread, the free version of Malwarebytes will not conflict, but the paid version will.
