Remove packed.generic.233

I need a tool for removing packed.generic.233 aka braviac.exe from my computer. Norton is not capable of doing it. Every time I start my computer I get a warning about packed.generic.233. Norton says it is removed, but this nott true. It finds it way back to my computer time after time.

Does any know how to remove it?

You need to check your PC to see what is wrong. Are you running Norton Internet Security or just Norton Anti-virus?

Hi T0afre,

Let us know whether the Spam mails are sent from your Email clients(Outlook or Outlook express, if you use any) or whether it is from your Web-based email Account. Also, let us know how you knew that Spam mails are sent from your address.

Re: Can I use the firewall to block all smtp traffic from my computer

I do not use any mail program on my computer. Besides web based mail. No spam mail has been sent from my web based mail then I check the outbox. But to day I get 17 "one click support popups" All generated by the outgoing mail scanner. Some mail not written by me was had not gone through to the receiver which was totally unknown by me.

You have already posted on this thread that you have packed. generic 233.  This is a rootkit, which is going to require specialized removal.  There is no point in posting several different ways about the same problem.  Stay in one place until you get assistance or a recommendation.

What concerns me also, however, is your post on this thread recommending the unsupervised use of Combofix to another user.  If you have already used this program or others, Quads might not be able to assist you, as use of this tool twice is not recommended.

I will ask the Mods to merge this post with your other thread for continuity.

No it is two separated questions. In one post I ask for a removal tool. In the other I ask for a way to block outgoing E-mail. The general rule in any forum is 1 question pr thread. That make searching for problems already solved in forum more efficient ;)

But anyway I am glad for all help I can get on this or these topics. So let us agree to have a disagree on how I made my postings in this case

Whether you agree or not, nothing can be done about any of your problems until something is done about the rootkit.  Nothing will either get fixed or stay fixed.  Bouncing around from post to post for the same problem, dealing with individual symptoms is not going to work.

Please run a SysProt log for us so we can check your system for rootkit activity. You will need to disable Norton auto-protect while you run the scan.

Once it is downloaded to your desktop, right click on the SysProt icon, go to properties, and click unblock and apply.

Choose log, check all the boxes except show hidden objects only and scan.

You will be able to post the log here using the "add attachments" link just below the orange post button.

Re: Remove packed.generic.233

Thanks to everybody that try to help with my "Remove packed.generic.233" question. By some thinking I came up with a simple method to keep the packed.generic.233 dormant. It is not a cure but then Norton find a cure it will be blasted with a system scan.

So back to this thread orginal question. If it is possible to block all smtp traffic from my computer by Norton firewall I would like to know how. New virus variants surface all the time and since I do not need smtp on my home computer I would like to block it
