Congratulations to the Norton team for completing NIS and AntiVirus 2011so quickly

Norton Team Hi,  :smileyhappy:

This was really fast, many thanks.

When we are advised :-

...........................................................................................

Be sure to completely remove the beta product and all settings before installing the final build.

......................................................................................................................................................

I presume that we are able to retain our Identity safe settings.  Can anyone help me with this?

Cheers,

drshlomo.

Yes, the Idnetity Safe settings were transferred over as part of the automatic switch.

Hello drshlomo,

By "completely remove", we mean ALL settings (including the Identity Safe data). Beta products are to be used for testing only. You may choose to export your Identity Safe data and then import it in the new version. However, please keep in mind that this was the route you took if you experience any issues with Identity Safe. At that point, you would need to start fresh with a new Identity Safe database.

Again, please keep in mind that "completely remove" means to do a full install and not save settings.

Cheers,

Tim Hi,  :smileyhappy:

Thank you for a very prompt and precise reply, for which I am very grateful.

I assume that your remarks are concerning upgrading from a Beta to the final product.  I see that yank says he retained the Identity Safe settings, as this is asked when we uninstall the regular program and, I hope that was the situation for him.

Are there two separate possibilities here, regarding the Identity safe:_

a) updating from NIS 2010

b) updating from NIS 2011 Beta?

Cheers,

drshlomo.

Re: Congratulations to the Norton team for completing NIS and AntiVirus 2011so quickly

drshlomo: Just save the Identity Safe settings from the beta to an NPM file. Then remove the beta, clear all the registry keys and the left over files (there are some!!!!!!!). Then install the RTM version with your key, and after install restore Identity Safe from the NPM file.

Glen: If you browser is a German version, it would lead you to the German download page. To get the English setup package, go to the Norton Update Center (www.norton.com/nuc), in the upper part change the language to English, and then use the manual product selection option. This way you will be able to download the English installer.

Hello Glen

If your original key came from a German store, then the program I believe would download in German, but you can fix that as PapauZ has said.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

PapauZ Hi,  :smileyhappy:

I have carried out your suggestions exactly with the correct result.  thank you.

I had uninstalled the NIS 2011 Beta as soon as the testing was completed and installed the NIS 2010 for which I have a current license.  However, I had retain my Identity safe data so I uninstalled the NIS 2010 after saving the data, as you explained to me.

You said :-

..................................................................................................

Clear all the registry keys and the left over files (there are some!!!!!!!).

..................................................................................................................................................

I am not sure if this was done simply by uninstalling.  If not will you please advise me on how to do it?

On completing these steps, I tried to update to NIS 2011 but found my product key had already been used on 3 computers.  This was very promptly and correctly sorted out by Naveen Prasad on a chat session with Norton, for which I am grateful.

I now have NIS 2011 installed until the expiry of my current license.
