Current Def set?

NIS 17.8.0.5

 

Just ran live update and it appeared I got the new def set on my Comp (Vista) it is  in

 C:\Program Data\Norton\{lomg set of numbers and letters}\NIS17.5.0.127\Definitions\VirusDefs\20110325.020

 

But when I go to the Norton website

http://us.norton.com/security_response/definitions.jsp

 

it shows the

 

Multiple Daily Updates Learn More

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection 11
  • Norton AntiVirus 2008 and newer

Virus Definitions created 3/25/2011
Virus Definitions released 3/25/2011
Defs Version: 130325b
Sequence Number: 121528

Total Detections (Threats & Risks): 11068855

 

why would mine show 20110325.020

Your quote above is incorrect - you've somehow managed to mix together the text from both of the Update sections! You have quoted the details that relates to the Norton AntiVirus 2006/2007 products above.

Assuming you are still using NIS 2010,  your 20110325.020 definition version matches the version shown under the 'Multiple Daily Updates' section listed above (highlighted in red). The naming convention is year, month, day, revision number; so the definition file name becomes 2011, 03 (March), 25, 020. Take out the commas and the definition file name then becomes 20110325.020.
