Internet Explorer works sporadically.

What do you mean? Can you be more specific? It may be not a Norton problem.

Hi,
The info you had provided is absolutely right. But the File insight analyzes the files while saving for the portal type 1, Opera belongs to portal type 2 which means while executing only the file will be analyzed and the file insight will give notification when the file is malicious or not.
Internet Explorer (Browser) 1
Opera (Browser) 2
Yahoo (Browser)
Firefox (Browser) 1
Chrome (Browser) 1
AOL (Browser) 1
Safari (Browser) 1
QQ (Chat) 2
MSN Messenger (Chat) 1
ICQ (Chat) 2
Skype (Chat) 2
Yahoo Messenger (Chat) 2
MSN Explorer (Browser, E-mail & Chat) 1
Outlook (E-mail) 2
Thunderbird (E-mail) 2

I can no longer play video with either Firefox or IE. They continually ask me to install Flash even though it is installed.

Try using google chrome which will use its inbuilt plugins to play videos.

Subash,
So you're saying portal type 2 is only analyzed on execution, not downloading?
11-25-2011 10:24 AM
Yes that is correct.
11-25-2011 10:33 AM
The execution is appearing in security history so Norton is monitoring it with Insight. Just no pop-up.
11-25-2011 10:37 AM
Yes, if it is a malicious file according to the file insight it will give the pop-up.

I consider my issue solved. Many thanks to Subash, noghere, and Imacri for their help.
