I haven't tried a clean re-install yet .....I did have Adaware at one time
Hi Lapurple:
Newer versions of Ad-Aware do have an anti-virus component to them (see the LavaSoft FAQ here) so it's possible Ad-Aware is contributing to the problem. I couldn't find a Lavasoft cleanup utility listed on the SingularLabs site here (thanks to huwyngr for posting the link) and there is a pinned post in the Lavasoft forum here recommending that users uninstall Ad-Aware using the Revo Uninstaller. Unfortunately, the free version of the Revo Uninstaller would only work if you had Ad-Aware currently installed on your system.
Not to worry, though. Just go ahead and clean off what residual Ad-Aware files you can find on your hard drive as yank suggested and then perform the clean re-install of NIS. That will likely solve the problem, and if not we can suggest alternate ways to get any stray Ad-Aware registry entries and files off your system.

Thought I had better let you all know that I found the solution to my problems. It was the new memory kit that I got for Christmas (which is what I was afraid of). I took the memory kit back to Best Buy and exchanged it and I haven't had a problem since
No BSOD, no Chrome problem, and no Norton problem. Thanks for all your input.

Lapurple, I'm glad you got it sorted, but it is important to tell us the entire story while we are trying to assist you. I do not recall you saying anything about installing "a new memory kit", but instead you keyed in on the install of NIS 2012, which in the end had nothing to do with your problem. Perhaps we were just as much at fault, as we did not ask if you had changed or added any programs in the same time frame. I hope this is a lesson many folks will rememeber in the future.

Sorry, I thought I mentioned the memory in the beginning. I meant to anyway.
