After I used System Restore for the first time on my Windows XP, it apparently turned off the Intrusion Prevention tab. So it looks like I'll have to uninstall and reinstall my Norton AntiVirus program. I've never before had to use System Restore, and I've never had any problems with Norton AntiVirus.
I've read and printed the instructions about how to download and run the Norton Removal Tool. Those instructions also tell me to have my Norton installation CDs or downloaded installation files for the Norton AntiVirus Software.
This is where my question is. I have the original Norton AntiVirus disk from several years ago and have been renewing/updating my subscription annually online so where are my "downloaded installation files" from my most recent renew/update? The instructions also say I will be provided the information about how to reinstall.
I have my last order confirmation number, my product key and serial number from my last Norton AntiVirus update.
So do I just proceed with the uninstall and can I be confident that I'll be able to safely reinstall following the instructions?

Hi,
you can get the latest installer from here: www.norton.com/nav11 (if you use a non-English version, go to www.norton.com/nuc to get the latest installer).
This is how we suggest the reinstallation process:
1. Download latest Norton AntiVirus installer
2. Download the Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt
3. Disconnect from internet
4. Remove Norton AntiVirus from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs
5. Reboot
6. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times)
7. Install Norton AntiVirus 2011, and activate it with your old serial
8. Run Live Update until you get no new updates
Let us know the results. :)

I did it!! Thanks ever so much!!
One last thing though. If ever, heaven forbid, I should have to use System Restore again, exactly what is it in NAV11 that I need to disarm?
I really appreciate the help.

Hi,
as I know, you have to turn Norton Tamper Protection off, and do the System Restore after that.

I have have the same type of error. I ve been with the chat support 3 times. They have uninstalled and installed the program over and over and the last time I decided to create a restore point and turned off my instrusion prevention tab. I'm doing everything suggested in the reply instructions but my doubt is after I download the installation files how do I reinstall them when I had done everything till step 6?

That was my mistake. I didn't do that. Do I have to unstall and reinstall all over again.?
Thank you for your prompt answer.

I think I replied the wrong person. I'm new here. After step 6; how do you install the files when they've been downloaded?

Hi,
the Removal Tool can not be isntalled, just simply run it. When it is finished, just reboot the PC. Repeat this step 2-3 times.
The NAV installer file will be in the same place you downloaded it. Did you downloaded the program via the direct link, or from the Update Center?
