This problem start just after I got a bunch of updates for drivers from HP, then I couldn't start my laptop after a few tries I finally made my laptop works, but was very slow and then the error 3043.1 appears. I got Norton Internet Security version 18.6.0.29, my HP laptop came with Norton, then I extended my suscription online like two months ago. I also have Norton utilities 15 wich is working every day. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1. I hope you guys can help me to fix this, because is very anoying.

I am having the same problem it started around 3am this morning when I tried to stream a movie to watch.
Norton Internet Security 2011
Installed by download off Norton site approx 2 or 3 weeks ago.
Used AVG before this. Have never been able to get AVG completely uninstalled as in removing it completely from my computer. It still shows in my start up bar. It shows as turned off. Tryed shutting it off and it continues to try and re install itself every 4 hours. Will not allow me to delete any avg exec. files.
Win XP
error 3043,1
The entire Norton progam is shut off. Cannot do updates, ran scan said could find nothing. Also screwed up my Avant browser. The browser will not load any pages on it. I had to swith to another browser just to get here to get help. Been working on this for hours and have gotten no where.

Welcome Cheryl33,
Sorry you're having problems. First order of business is to go to the AVG site and download their removal tool. Run it and check on the operation of NIS. If it is still corrupted then use the remove and reinstall feature to clean up your copy.
Let us know how it goes, we'll leave a light on

For Cheryl33,
Here is the link to the AVG removal tool.
For the other folks:
As Dick mentioned, if you need to uninstall and reinstall your Norton Product, you can accomplish this with one tool, the Norton Remove & Reinstall tool.
"The Norton Remove & Reinstall tool uninstalls all Norton products from your computer, and reinstalls the latest version of your Norton security product."
First, Back up your Identity Safe Data to a convenient location and have your product key handy as a precaution.
Then proceed to this page and follow the instructions for downloading and running the tool.
Let us know how you do.

The AVG removal tools do not work. I have tried it 4 times now. All it does is re install it.
I downloaded the nortoan removal tool and uninstalled Norton. Hoping that AVG could be removed after i did that. And the answer is still no it will not remove itself. It will show in control panel, i click remove it tells me it can't. Prior to this i did the same thing and it appeared to be out of control pnael list. But still on start up bar flagging me every few hours to start scan.
So atm I have ZERO virus protection and this is pissing me off now.

Hi Cheryl,
Please restart your computer in SAFE MODE .
Go to Start > Run and type %temp% click OK and then delete everything in that folder.
While still in Safe Mode, search your computer for AVG and delete anything that is found. Be sure 'Search in hidden files & folders' is selected.
Restart and then run the AVG removal utility again.
Let us know how you do.

Ok did the %temp% and deleted everything in there.
Did search on files tryed to delete them and it will not let me. Says "cannot read from source disk". This was a dl from their site so there is no source disk. It was the free version, I do not know if that makes a difference or not.

Hello Cheryl,
Please download, install and update the FREE version of Malwarebytes.
Run a complete system scan and let us know the results.
