Re: Error 3043,1

[ Edited ]

Ok lovely kind Norton helpers this is where i am at now.

1, DL Malwarebytes and ran it.

          Quarentined all files found infected

          dumped in trash

         and deleted trash

          Reboot

2. DL AVG removal tool

          Did uninstall

          Reboot

* At this Point AVG is back

3. Did Run %temp%

            Deleted everything in there

Ran search on all AVG files

            Again tried to delete them

* At this time still will not allow me to

4. Click on AVG removal tool for the 2nd time and run

Removal tool removed AVG from my computer on the 2nd run!

* Instructions do not tell you this of course!!!!

Dumped trash can again because i want to make sure everything is gone.

            Reboot

5. Computer appears to be AVG free:womanvery-happy:

Is it safe now to re DL Norton again?

Re: Error 3043,1

I'm sorry for all the steps you had to perform.

Since removing AVG via the normal channels failed, I suspected it might be malware related.

I would run one more full system scan with Malwarebytes before installing Norton, just to be sure.

Okay with you?

Re: Error 3043,1

Where do I download my Norton Internet Security? Its telling me that my 90 days is up! What kind of crap is that? A company cannot do that if they offer online downloads of their product with no disk sent, and it is bought and paid for. .......

Nothing to get upset about.

You can download NIS 2011 here.

Once installed, be sure to Run LiveUpdate a few times until there are no more updates available.

Re: Error 3043,1 and error 8405, 100

Phil and all those having this error and error 8405,100!

Most answers online are either guesses, or ignore the actual situation stipulated, but Phil's answer was right on! The whole Norton problem was created by a corrupt temp file, and his idea to go into Safe Mode (at boot time) and delete any temp files relative to Symantec with the %temp% command  was dead on. It solved the problem completely, but I have a twist and a simpler solution.

Phil's idea to remove corrupted temp Symantec file(s) was quite correct - BUT!  I simply went into Internet Explorer: Tools, Internet Option (bottom choice), and then under Browsing History selected Settings, and then View Objects (not View Files). This is where the Symantec temporary corrupted file/object is shown. It even says it is corrupted! So, I simply highlighted this file/object and deleted it (via the Delete Key). Without even rebooting, the Symantec NAV 2012 started working correctly, and the red error flag went away and all is well! So, it appears this type of error does not require rebooting and going into the Safe Mode.
