Hi bethy0543,
Norton Confidential is another term for the features of the Norton Toolbar (Antiphishing, Identity Safe, etc.) and some related files still have NCO in their names. There is a known issue with Google Chrome regarding notifications that Norton Confidential has crashed. Is that the browser you are using, and if so, are your computer crashes all happening when Chrome is running?

I appreciate all of your suggestions and help so very much! I have been struggling with this for many months, as I said.
Okay, I tried the https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp
Yes, I do use Google Chrome, and have also used it as my browser for years. IE is so much slower and there is so much extra garbage they add on that I can't remove, that I much prefer Google Chrome. If it's incompatible with my Norton Internet Security, why didn't anyone tell me this? There must be many other people in the same pickle I'm in--and we renew every year. I have tried closing the Norton toolbar, but it doesn't seem to make any difference if it's there or not.
I have used the nrnr tool and the power eraser tool so many times (which is how I end up spending hours on the phone with a tech controlling my computer from the other side of the world, and it doesn't end up being fixed).
I'm sorry for all the complaining, but it's been terribly frustrating (to say the least).

Hi bethy0543,
I am not sure if your 8504,104 errors are related to the Norton Confidential / Chrome issue - it might be a separate issue. For the Chrome situation, see the following thread, particularly the last post by Tim Lopez that explains what is happening.

Thank You so much to all of you who have reached out to me to help.
I have now tried everything posted, and am still having the same problems. Does it make a difference that my computer refers to the Norton Confidential as a "plug-in"?
I hope that when and if Norton/Symantec fixes this problem, they will let us all know about it and what we can do about it.
Doing anything less than this would be unprofessional (to say the least).

From the post above about the Chrome issue, It seems that Google is not being very responsive about a fix.
Time will tell if it is a Chrome or a Norton issue. Let's hope it is not a long time.
