I started getting this error message this morning. I did all the necessary steps that I were told to do. When I restarted my
computer it keeps giving me the same message.

I have Norton Internet Security 2011, version 18.6.0.29
Starting this morning I have gotten an error message that saysNorton intrusion protection is disabled. I followed all prompts, including two reboots, with no success.

I LIKE A LOT OF OTHERS HAVE RECEIVED THE ERROR MESSAGE 3043,1.
I TOO HAVE FOLLOWED EVERY STEP, AND HAVE HAD NO SUCCESS IN RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM.
ISN'T THERE A PHONE NUMBER WE CAN CALL?

I'll ask for some help on this but I see there is a Norton KB article on this error message involving using LiveUpdate to make sure you are completely uptodate:
http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_ty
which if it does not work goes on to using the Norton Removal Tool and reinstalling clean:
It may be worth trying these, especially the clean reinstall since it has been found to fix many errors when something gets out of step or corrupted.

Glad you resolved your problem -- thanks for letting us know. That image restore would be the same as a cleanup and reinstall. Just make sure you run LiveUpdate a few times with a reboot in between until it says no more updates available.
It would help to know whether you got the same numeric error message as used for the topic of this thread.

got the 3043,1 error and followed the instructions.
prior to the error had no problems with nis 2011 for aprox 1 day after update from nis 2010.
got the error 3043,1
the one given on the pop up.
got an update the first time, second time up to date.
rebooted same problem.
tried to update again, up to date.
in the norton panel noticed my intrusion prevention was off.
at the bottom of the panel a notice computer is not safe or is unprotected some thing like that.
with a fix now button.
hit the button it turned on the intrusion prevention.
tried to update, up to date.
rebooted, no error.
we'll see what happens later.
