Error code 3035, 2.

Hi

This morning after having gone through a Norton update (via LU) and downloading and installing the files, within 10 -20 minutes the "Auto Protect shut down, causing an "Error code 3035,2."  Screenshot,

I ran a Manual LU, that downloaded a streaming update, but this still didn't fix the problem.  I then clicked the "Fix Now" Button and went through that process Screenshot,

I don't have System Restore turned on, haven't for a long time. Don't need it.

So I Restarted the PC, That still didn't fix the problem, I then tried another Manual LU and it downloaded the full 29+mb Definition file.

THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM.

Seems for what ever reason the definition file(s) became corrupt.

1. Did Norton in downloading and installing the first update for the day corrupt it's own definitions file?? Causing the full download needed?

2. Does Norton "merge the downloaded file(s) with the existing files, If so did on this occasion did Norton in the act of Merging and completion  damage the file??

3. Or if the downloaded files were corrupt during download when merging with the existing file(s) the whole file after that would become corrupt / damaged causing a full download to be required.

Bye

Hey Quads,

Were you able to gather any log files to submit to tech support?

Norton Internet Security • Comcast NSS • Norton Security Beta | XP SP3 • Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64

Quads,

I got the same error message after trying to do a system restore.  You were lucky, I went through Symantec support and they told me the only thing to do was uninstall and reinstall - a pain.   Glad it worked for you.  How  did you di the manual LU?  Run luall as in NIS2008?

I went through the one click support and it created a .zip folder in the errlogs folder but failed to upload the 62mb folder, maybe on dial-up it decided the upload would take ages LOL I would agree with that.

The .zip folder is still there though.

I also got this

And Fix successful afterwards.

Hi 10ACTony
One advantage I had was that I knew for me it had nothing to do with System restore as mine is turned off and has been for a very long time.
I did a Manual LU by clicking "Run Live Update" even though it said "Not Available" see first screenshot.

I know that in this post, mijcar had a totally different issue than yours, however it also occurred shortly after a recent update of today.
