Having an issue downloading NIS 11. Renewed subscription on another PC. Saw 2 more PC's can be used. Went to another PC with no Norton installed and got a page saying "Error encountered during product download. Please try again." Page gave 2 links, 1 saying to try again (which only displays the same page) and 2 shows a manual download. With this link going to a "page cannot be displayed". Ideas, suggestions would greatly help.
Thanks

Welcome
A few more details would be most useful
Operating System?
Is there any security on the system now?
Is it possible that the computer is already infected?
Help is on its way :)

Sure thing. Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. McAfee Security Center currently installed. (came free with ISP) I thought maybe i'd be a firewall issue so I disabled it but with no difference. I seen in a post in Jan this happened before.

Norton and McAfee try to do the same things in most of the same places
Because of this they never play well together
You may have to download Norton using another computer
disconnect this one from the Internet - after you download the McAfee removal tools
run the McAfee removal tool reboot and then try to install Norton
[as an aside if you were doing the reverse - had Norton and tried to install McAfee the results would be similar]
Hope this helps

That worked! Thanks a million! Now onto the next issue. I installed NIS 11 and I click on the subscribe link at bottem so I could copy/paste the product key in. Its shows a activating screen and says success! But gives me another product key and a 62 day's remaining. Shouldn't it be over a year since I inputted the key I used to use 1of3 PC's?

I also now can not view other computers on my network. 2PC's win7, 2 notebook vista, xbox, and PS3. I've double check to ensure all computers are in the same workgroup. Network discovery is turned on. Re-synchronized times etc. Is Norton needing some attention to open some ports?

Using the product key from the copy that has already been installed will give you the same amount of time as the existing installation. All three copies are good for a year, FROM THE DATE THAT THE FIRST COPY IS INSTALLED. Not shouting just wanted to be sure the point is made and understood. When it comes time to renew that key will extend the subscription of all copies for another year.
Hope this helps

Ok. I was hoping I didn't set something up wrong. Any ideas on the network issues?
Thanks for your help BTW :)

You're quite welcome. That's what this place is all about - helping.
Still thinking about the network and hoping one of the more expert members here will chime in with the answer :)

Well, I think I've got it somehow figured out. There was a firmware update for my linksys router and since its update I've been able to see the other network computers. Not sure if that was the problem as I read the release notes and it didn't say anything about networking issues or anything relevant in the problem I was having.
Computers... Gotta lovem! lol
Thanks again!
