hi gan,
the ability to manually check for new updates is currently in the schedule for next year's release, along with other update improvements.
quick, clarifying edit: one of our developers made the point that you can manually check for updates already today using LiveUpdate.
my point in general being that we know it is not always easy to know where and how to get the latest versions of our products and we're working on this for next year's releases.

Thank you davecole,
The problem is that i didn't receive the new patch using liveupdate even when runnning liveupdate manually. A download link to download and install the patch or a full release with the patch included would have been a nice option in that case. Now i got the new patch from liveupdate so that problem is solved, but that didn't solve my stability problem with NAV anyway.
Is there any release notes available for the public for the 16.1.0.33 release?

Hi, I just tried like 10 mins ago on Friday November 14, 2008 @0630am.
I still do not have any update of 16.1.0.33.
I think it may have to take a while.....but no definite dates.
Thank you

Dear Dave,
That is a consulation....to hear that NIS2010 will provide users to have automatic updates. However, I am concern on the current updates of 16.1.033.
As mentioned in my last posting here. It is November 14, 2008 @645am. I am still not getting any updates.
At least give us some idea on the FULL Stable release date so users do not have to keep pastering you for the updates.
That helps alot.
Thank you

Sea_Monster,
I think I am having some language difficulties. I am not sure what you have tried and what you haven't.
So I will give you a list and you must do everything on this list.
1. Reboot your computer.
2. Open the NIS console (click on the NIS icon in the Notification Tray in the lower right of the screen).
3. Click on HELP.
4. Point your mouse at ABOUT.
5. What is the version number? You will have one of two choices (16.0.0.125 or 16.1.0.33) .
If your version number is 16.1.0.33, you have the newest version. Stop here and report back to us. If not, continue with the next steps:
6. Click on LIVE UPDATE. Did you get any updates? If no, stop here and report back to us. If yes, continue with the next steps:
7. Does the Live Update screen say you need to reboot? If yes, reboot and when you are done, go back to Step 2 and continue. If no, continue with the next steps:
8. Click on LIVE UPDATE. Did you get any updates? If no, stop here and report back to us. If yes, continue with the next steps:
9. Does the Live Update screen say you need to reboot? If yes, reboot and when you are done, go back to Step 2 and continue. If no, report back to us telling us what you have done and what was the outcome.

I apologise for my new message. I write it down my problem in detail, that let him be unambiguous.
I use the NIS 2009 and NAV 2009.
My operating system is Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit, full legal. My Norton products: NIS 2009 16.0.0.125 and NAV 2009 16.0.0.125. This programs is full activated! Not trialware.
...
You are running two antivirus programs on your computer: NIS2009 and NAV2009.
NIS2009 contains NAV 2009.
1. Uninstall NAV2009.
2. Uninstall NIS2009.
3. Run the Norton Removal Tool if you have it. If not, see if this works without it.
4. Reinstall NIS2009.
5. Reboot
6. Run Live Update 3 or 4 times. When it asks you to reboot, you will have the latest update. Reboot. You are now done.

mijcar,
The problem is simply that some users do not get the patch from liveupdate and i don't know why it take a long time for some people like myself. I have two computers, one desktop and one laptop. I been having problems with NAV on my laptop so i uninstalled NAV some time ago and used NAV on my desktop only instead. The other day i could see that i received the new patch on my desktop so i figured i should try running NAV on my laptop as well to see if the patch fixed the problem, but i never received the new update from liveupdate on my laptop and this is not a user problem. I tried running liveupdate manually many times, but still no luck. It's really easy to see because when you receive the patch from liveupdate you get a second folder under "C:\Program Files\NortonInstaller\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85E

From what plagueis described, he is using NAV and NIS on 2 separate systems and not simultaneously on one machine.
Plagueis, are you using the English version of NAV/NIS or the Hungarian version? If Hungarian, you might have to wait a bit longer for the localized patches to roll out.

As he said it's running on two computers which means they are not intalled on the same computer.
