Re: Every time I boot my computer I get a live update request

[ Edited ]

Everything in the Antivirus segment is OK now.

I went to the local customer service center, explained my situation and the tech service person installed NIS 2009 remotely and solved that.

What I'm unsure of now is whether or not to re-install Norton System Works which I still have the installation files for.

I am suspicious that this whole Live Update pop-up mess was caused by NSW.

What do you think Reese - should i go ahead and install System Works or leave it off my computer?

I would be interested to hear what your opinion is?

Robert, I'm glad to hear that you have made some progress. Regarding SystemWorks, I really don't know the specifics but I'm getting the impression that there is a free 2009 update available for that as well and that should prevent any other compatibility issues that you could have with NIS 2009.

If Robert has NSW Standard, 2006-2008 and he downloads the trial version of the 2009 edition of the same product, he will be able to successfully enter his activation fee and use the remainder of his subscription time.

If he has the basic edition or the premiere edition, I don't know what his options are any more.

As of a message from Tim Lopez yesterday the V12 NSWs were not yet on the Update Center although I imagine they are on the Trialware ......

Thanks everyone for your assistance and help.

This is one of the most helpful forums on the internet and without it I would  be in a lot worse position.

It wouldn't be what it is without that revolutionary concept of Symantec's that perhaps the customer really is suffering because we have been less than perfect and that the answer is not always to reinstall our product and if that does not work then reinstall Windows .... <vbg>
