Yesterday i got upadate on my nav 16.5.0.134 on 64 bit vista/sp1 os
Since then i can't live update, LU error code : 8921,246
It states : Unable to locate a valid norton live update server, pls run a full sys scan and try again.
I scanned my system 3 times already but no use.
I am sure it is due to 134 bugs, so how do i revert back or get 135 version or have solution for lu problem with current product??
p.s. I also tried turning my firewall off but no luck.
Solved! Go to Solution.

I discover something : my Apartment use wireless, before update everything is working perfect (NIS16.2)
After update LiveUpdate (Manual) not working it show message "Unable to locate a valid norton live update server, pls run a full sys scan and try again"
but automatic liveupdate work fine! it still download every 8 hour.
I test again by switch back to dial modem
LiveUpdate Working fine both Manual Update and Automatic Update!!
I don't know why, what's happend.

is this patch some kind of joke?
wth was symantec thing about making live update even worse that it now doesn't update.
I have not recieved any update since 1 day, what to do.
I hadn't paid for a non functional product, and moreover nobody bother to lisen to the problem.

Did you already try this solution from the symantec search on their support site http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view

Norton 2009 is new for symantec as well as this is the First Year they have re-written the whole Product, which is why you need to Report such things as soon as you notice them. Yes, it can be annoying when things like this happen, but just give symantec a chance, as they have Solved a lot of Issues.

To All
I do not have this problem. The live update problem I have and which is posted elsewhere is slightly different. However, I wonder if any of the posters is prepared to check an idea out. If so and if the following makes sense to you, could you change your DNS servers in your network connection or set in your router, to specified DNS rather than from your ISP/ASP. Do not use your existing DNS servers but rather select any pair of public DNS servers. Then run LU and see if any files download. Please post your response if you are able to carry out this test.

My lu was working fine till i had 16.2 ver now its not working at 16.5 ver.
I checked lue log file which gavin told and found that error is : LU server doesn't support HTTP/1.1
I suppose the products which are updated to 16.5 version are recieving updates from different servers, so its a server problem which is not allowing http connections and need to be corrected asap.
This is a major bug and needed to be checked before releasing the patch, but nvrmind, its not too late and still it can be solved, so i request symantec to chk it asap.
