FireFox Freezes when I download large files.

I'm using Firefox 3.6 and NIS 2010.  I have 100Mbps fiber optic connection and did not have the same problem with my previous Internet Security Suite.

What should I do?

Are you using Firefox 3.6.3 and NIS 2010 17.6.0.32? Did you COMPLETELY remove your old security first? NIS does nit have a web shield therefore it does not slow down your downloading. I just downloaded a 500MB file with no slow downs at all.

Yes, I have the latest Firefox version and NIS (autoupdate).  I know NIS installs a firefox plugin.  previous internet security suite was uninstalled completely then I rebooted afterwards before installing NIS 2010.  Try downloading a large .exe, I know movies are not scanned by the real-time scanner by default.

Currently I'm using a trial version of Avira and I'm not experiencing this problem. but my trial period is about to be over so I want to try NIS 2010 again if someone can help me solve this problem.

There are a number of reasons that Firefox could hang when downloading, but the antivirus scan that Firefox runs when a download completes can often cause this.  The first thing to try is to close and reopen the Downloads window when the download freezes.  Sometimes this gets things rolling again.  If it does not there is a simple preference setting in Firefox that you can change to disable the automatic scan.  If the antivirus scan is causing the hang this will fix it.  You can run a manual scan of the downloaded file or rely on Norton's Auto-Protect component to keep you safe if you need to disable the Firefox-initiated scans.  The information you will need is here:
