My Norton Internet Security firewall requires a password. The password has been lost and no promopt to reset the password is provided, how can i reset the old password to create a new password.

Follow the procedure outlined in the Norton Help pages:

However, if you forget your settings password, you can reset the password in the window that appears when you choose to uninstall Norton Internet Security. You need not uninstall the product to reset your password. You can use the reset settings password option in the uninstall preference window to reset your password. This option appears in the uninstall preference window only when you have set a settings password. You can set a new password after typing the randomly generated characters that are displayed in the dialog box to reset your password.

You can get to the uninstall option via the context menu that appears when you hover the mouse over the Norton Internet Security entry in Start > All Programs.
