Firewall problem

Hello -- I have Windows 7/64  bit and Norton Internet Security 2012.  I am being told by a download program that a port is not open.  What can I do with Norton's Smart Firewall to open this port?  I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing, so I *really* need help.  Can anyone here help me??

HI scotjudy333,

The forum is for the product of Norton Online Family.  I've asked the forum administrator to move the post to an appropriate forum for better exposure.

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Firewall problem

Hi

Welcome to Norton forum,

I would like to know more about the version of norton and the product which you are using and the product for which the port to be opened.

You can follow the following website to how to create a rule to open the port. But before that it is my personal advise that be careful in doing so and do not unnecessarily open the ports which might lead to a loophole for the hackers to enter into the computer.

Adding General rules and Program rules

About Smart Firewall Advanced Settings

Thanks,

Re: Firewall problem

Hi scotjudy333,

What program are you referencing?  The Norton Smart Firewall should make the proper port configurations and network access permissions for legitimate programs automatically.  It is therefore rare to get a notice like the one you describe.  Some more details would be useful.
