Dear Symantec Technical Staff,
I am using Symantec (Norton) Internet Security almost from it's very first version and I would like to thank you for the absolute protection you offer all the users of NIS. I never have had any incident so far and I am quite sure that I will not have in the future.
Every year I either renew my subscription or upgrade to the newer version. So I did a week ago, upgrading to NIS2009.
The first thing I noticed, is that Norton Internet Security 2009 suite, it is really fast (compared to previous versions) allowing my pc to run really fast. The user interface is also very convenient, eye-pleasant and easy to use.
I would like though (with your kind permission) to make some comments on several points, hoping that you will take a good look on them and help you make the best even better.
Maybe this community is not the proper place to address my proposals to Symantec Technical Staff, but, frankly speaking, I did not find any proper email link anywhere in Symantec's official site to address there my remarks. I apologise for this.
1. The integrated Password Manager is very helpful and almost complete.
Although, it lacks the convenience of the old-but-complete Norton Password Manager 2004 as it only fills web forms but NOT password protected software login forms and/or windows password protected applications and/or password protected USB flash drives or external hard disks.
It also does not recognise the logon screen (either in Internet Explorer or Firefox) of local network routers (e.g. 192.168.1.150).
2. LiveUpdate's settings cannot be modified by the user. For example, if someone would like to change the time interval of LiveUpdate to 1 hour instead of the default 4 hours, that is impossible.
3. The Private Information Alert popup window, lacks the option of "Block ALWAYS to this site" (it only has "Allow Once", "Block Once(recommended)" and "Allow Always to this site").
4. A serious option is missing on right-clicking the tray icon of NIS2009, that of "Block All Network Traffic".
Of course this option exists into Settings > Internet Settings > Smart Firewall > Advanced Settings > Block All Network Traffic, but for a user who leaves every little and while his desk and needs to block all network traffic to and from his pc several times per day, this is quite difficult and time consuming to do it this way each time. It would so be very helpful to place it again in tray icon's right click options too.
5. There is no backup possibility for "My Addresses" and "Custom Spam Rules" in the Antispam section of Internet Settings.
For the user who has both a desktop pc and a laptop, it is quite hard to keep those lists updated by manually filling them after comparing what has changed, each time something changes in either desktop or laptop.
6. There is also no backup possibility for "Privacy Control" entries in Parental & Privacy Control settings.
This is absolutelly essential as all the critical user's private data exist inthere and must be easy transferable from desktop pc to laptop and vice versa.
7. The entries of the table of "Privacy Control" entries in Parental & Privacy Control settings, cannot be sorted by clicking on the top label of each column (as it happens in other tables of NIS2009 - e.g. Internet Settings > Antispam > Allowed List > Configure).
8. In Computer Settings > Computer Scans > Manage Scans > Configure, it would be very helpful to incorporate the ability of scheduling a FULL scan WITHOUT deactivating the Idle Time Scan .
Idle Time Scan is a very helpful innovation, but I don't think it can substitute the weekly Full Scann we all make each Saturday or Sunday.
In hope that my remarks and proposals will no way be considered offensive and would be implied accordingly and apologising for my probably not fluent English, I will be very glad to read your opinion on all above.
My sincere and kind regards,
KostasLarissaGR

Wow! You obviously took your time to try and help make NIS09 even better! I am sure on of the employees will take notice. =)
And I like to add a suggestion: the ability to instantly purge all of Security History. It takes a considerable amount of time to load on my old computer, especially when it has thousands of entries.

+1
Purge all security history manually takes amount of time. A button with Clear All in Complete History will be great. Another solution is limit history size (in MB or entries).

Please don't be upset at no reply from a Symantec Staff member. Apart from the fact that it is a Public Holiday today in the USA (Thanksgiving) they are, despite this, very much engaged on dealing with some problems that have cropped up in the last two days, as you will see from reading messages here.
They will see your suggestions I am sure and as you will see from messages here, the planning for NIS2010 is already in hand and suggestions from users have been taken.
