Re: Happili infection in Chrome

I just wanted to double check before running otl.exe, both Norton and Windows are gripping about the file. Norton says that the actual file is otl.exe.nfbjn6z.partial and is a very recent file rarely run. Microsoft also red flagged the file. Should I go ahead and run it?

Many thanks,

Don

Re: Happili infection in Chrome

Disable Norton

You can't have both Norton and MSE installed at the same time they will cause conflicts

Re: Happili infection in Chrome

Here are the text files.

MSE isn't on this machine, long ago Windows Defender was uninstalled, at this point I can't remember if it was from the control panel or the uninstall option in the program itself. There do seem to be some traces left that get picked up, I did a search that said it was turned off, but the program itself isn't listed for uninstallation.

I think the Microsoft warning came from the download manager in Explorer, it didn't resemble anything from Defender or MSE. The Norton insight warning occurred both on download and run, obviously there weren't any real problems.

Many thanks,

Re: Happili infection in Chrome

Start OTL,   under   Copy and paste the custom script attached which you open in for instance Notepad,(include the : at the start of :OTL and all the way to the end / bottom)  and run the script. (Red Run Fix Button)

The output log, should be placed in the C:\ _OTL folder after.

Re: Happili infection in Chrome

I've run it, the log is attached. Do I keep the log in the "Moved Files" sub folder or move it to the main _otl folder.

Thanks,

Don

Re: Happili infection in Chrome

If you start OTL again but this time click the Black ClenUp button, then make sure the C:\_OTL folder is deleted.
If so you are free to go on your merry way. You are now fixed / Solved

Re: Happili infection in Chrome

Looks like the problem is solved, after the last step I haven't noticed redirects, slow downs, or any other issues.

Once again, many thanks,

Don
