The idle time Quick scans do not detect cookies.
A manual Quick scan does apparently detect cookies
An Idle time full system scan detects cookies
A manual full system scan detects cookies.
You can also configure your browsers to delete history and cookies on exit.

Hi Snodgrass,
Tracking cookies are files that gets created on the computer when you access internet. There is a file created when you try to log in to anything which requires authentication which tracks you computer. If someone gets an access to your computer and get these files then they may get your log in informations.
With Norton we have two tpye of scanners which helps to protect different parts and areas of the computer. Auto scanner scan and keeps protected the key areas from where the viruses are more likely to enter into your computer.
Manual scan helps you to scan your complete computer and check the viruses in the whole system.

To clarify a bit, a cookie can only be accessed by the domain that set it, so there is no danger of information stored in a cookie being viewed by unauthorized sites. Log-in information is generally stored in persistent cookies which need to remain on your computer in order to be of any use. Tracking cookies are different. They are usually set by advertisers as a way to know which of their ads have been accessed on various sites by the PC.
