Have more malware infections been reported recently?

[ Edited ]

Is it my imagination or have more malware infections been reported on the forum recently?

I don't think that imagination has any role in the increases noted. :smileysad:

It would appear that more people with mmore time on their hands have elected to spend it destructively. The same thing is happening in the neighborhoods as those without work take from others in order to pay for their habits and their food. Various forms of violence are also increasing as the 'taking' gets more personal. It does not bode well for the future.

[end of soap box rant]

It seems like there are still a lot of threads about infected systems. Why is NIS/NAV not blocking these things?

Becuase no security program blocks every piece of malware. More than 60,000 new pieces of malware appears every day, and there is no way to add definitions at a rate that keeps up with that. So security programs have to rely on other methods of protection, like Norton's SONAR (behaviour blocking) and download insight (cloud), but they can't stop everything either.

I agree with what you said.  I'm asking if something changed in the last month or two. I could be wrong, but my impression is that most threads used to be about about software issues and the like.  Then for some reason I started to notice many more threads about infected systems.
