Help with Norton Safe Verification

I am using Yola (previous called Synthsite) to create a website: www.GrovetonVa.org.   I would like to set the site as a trusted/safe site but Yola does not allow html code to be placed in the root directory.  I noticed there was another Norton user with a similar issue in this forum where the site builder did not allow access to the root directory.

Yola does allow keyword metadata to be placed in the Properties sidebar of the site builder.  I did receive the email from Norton with the info for creating the html file and the required code.  I am just not sure what I am suppose to place into the keyword metadata.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Help with Norton Safe Verification

Hello CBRO and welcome!

If your site building program will not allow you to place the pre-formatted meta tag supplied in your email, then adding the code to your keywords tag is a good alternative.

You will be adding only the 128 character authentication code to your keywords, separating it from the other keywords with a comma.

Based upon your current keywords, it should appear like this:

Groveton Homepage, ab01234cde....(your unique 128 character code)

The above text is highlighted in different colors for example only.

This method will not allow for the automated verification, but when properly placed, the Safe Web team can manually verify ownership.

Let me know when you have completed this step and I will check your code for proper formatting.

Thanks!

Re: Help with Norton Safe Verification

Thank you for your quick response.  I believe I have followed your instructions properly.  The website has been updated with the 128 character code after the Groveton homepage keyword.

So...I guess it is ready for review.  Please let me know if this was correct.  Thanks again!

Re: Help with Norton Safe Verification

The authentication code in your keywords meta tag is properly placed and I shall notify the Safe Web team who will manually verify site ownership. Allow them a day or two to respond back to you in this thread.

Once ownership has been verified, your site will be queued for the rating evaluation.

Be sure the code remains in place until ownership is verified. Leaving the code in the meta tag will not affect your site or the visitor's experience.

Best wishes for your website!
