Hi,
I have a few false positives which keep flagging up every time NIS does a background scan. I have the folders/files in question set up accordingly in the exlusions section but this has never seemed to make the slightest bit of difference.
The only way I can get rid of the notifications is if I hit "clear entries" in the "unresolved security risk" section. This is fair enough, however, only a temporary fix... When Norton performs its next scheduled scan, the same results appear yet again.
Any suggestions on how I can get the exclusions to work as they should?
Cheers,
Brian

Brian,
I think the exclusions only work on 'safe' files. Those considered 'risks' must either have their security level changed to 'trusted' or they need to be removed. You indicate that they are false positives, have you submitted them to Norton for verification so that Norton can confirm your trust?

If they agree then Norton will include the change in a future live update and you will no longer get the warning message.

Is that really true?
I've never thought about that before.
It seems to me that _one_ of the uses of exclusions would be to avoid false positives. e.g., a user like tb has some file that NIS keeps flagging.
I'm puzzled about this.

Norton will not scan any file in the exclusion list. It may be finding new files that have been created, or the paths added to the list may be incorrect. Note that there are two exclusion lists - one for scans and one for Auto-Protect. Also, if Norton is detecting the same threat each time, you can use the Signatures to Exclude setting to exclude the specific detection for all files.
