Hi! I am running win 7 32 bit and now have NIS v 20.1.1.2. I have a backup of my IDsafe on my previous NIS that was running on in my XP system before the upgrade. The XP to Win 7 is a custom upgrade so wipes all programs on the way through. I reinstalled NIS after the upgrade and it looks a slightly different version...
No matter what I do I can't seem to stop the current NIS from wanting to import my data to the cloud via my Norton account. I see reference to this being a future possibility ie no local copy but not as of now.

Hi,
The only way to have a local ID Safe in NIS2013 is to upgrade from NIS12. That is just one reason many are sticking with the 2012 versions for now.
Cheers,

I would suggest uninstalling your NIS 20.1.1.2 via Control Panel, running the Norton Removal Tool and then installing NIS 2012 from here:
After install, Import/Restore your ID Safe data you have saved from your XP install.
Then you have the choice of remaing on NIS 2012 or an over the top upgrade to NIS 2013 - which will provide you a Local Vault again, Please note, any further uninstall/reinstall will cause you to lose the Local Vault again.

Correct NIs 20.01.01.2 (2013) does not provide an option for a Local Vault unless as exlained befoe you do an over the top upgrade from NIS 2012.
2. If I do the removal and download from the link, you kindly provided, it will take me back to a version where local IDsafe will work provided I select to stay on 2012?
Correct, the 2012 version gives you the option of the Local Vault and it will remain as long as you do not upgrade to 2013.
3..Will using the link cause me to have to pay again? I used my last available download to reinstall after upgrading to Win 7
No you will not have to pay again as long as your subscription has days remaining. You shold not see any problems with the reinstall as you will be using the same key you currently are. If you encounter any problems let us know and we'll tel you how to get the # of downloads corrected.
One more thing, if you desire to remain on NIS 2012, go to Settings > Computer > Updates > and turn Automatic Download of New Version OFF.
You know where to find us if you have any more questions.
