How do I tell Norton not to delete an application i run

Just migrated to a new machine, installed brand new Norton Internet Security 2010 on it.

Every time I run my favourite command line editor (e.exe) Norton pops up and says:-

SONAR detected security risk e.exe

and then

SONAR has removed security risk e.exe. Your computer is secure.

Clicking on more details pops up a window that says:-

e.exe

A program was behaving suspiciously on your computer. You chose to block and remove it.

Well, I most certainly did not chose to remove my favourite editor, so I suspect some default setting in Norton has determined this on my behalf. Question is, what do I need to do to tell Norton that this program is OK to run?

Cheers

Mog

Re: How do I tell Norton not to delete an application i run

Hi Mog,

Welcome to the Norton Community.

Is this a program you yourself wrote? How do you know for sure that it is safe?

Anwyay you can tell NIS to ignore this file during future based SONAR detections. When you restore this file from quarantine you will have an option to exclude it from future SONAR actions.

Please note that once you have told NIS to exclude this file from future SONAR action, there is no way to remove the exclusion without uninstalling NIS, so before you do this you should be 100% certain that the file is safe.

You can also submit the file to Symantec as a false positive at the following URL:

https://submit.symantec.com/dispute/false_positive/

Hope this hleps.

Thanks

Allen
