I need some clarifications with regards to the IPS. Since the current IPS is not compatible with Firefox 3.6, is it advisable for users to upgrade to 3.6? Also roughly how long will the compatibility issue will be done so that Norton users need not come to the forum daily to check on the update of the IPS compatbility. Thanks.

Norton is working on it, it will be released soon.
Until that you can use FF3.6 too, every other security featue (SONAR 2, firewall, Download Insight, Auto-protect, etc.) is available, only IPS is not working.
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 Hungarian, Norton 360 v20.3.1.22, Norton Utilities 16

I have some questions regarding the IPS for FIrefox 3.6. If the IPS is not compatible with the latest Firefox 3.6, will i still be protected in the sense such that it will monitor my network security as Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) is a proactive protection technology that provides security at the network level. It is the first line of defense against malware. Would it be advisable such that should i update to the latest update or would it be safer to keep the current Firefox 3.5.7?

If you want to use the incompatible IPS with FF 3.6 you can force it!
Of couse FF may crash or anything else so use it at your own risk! (Im not having any Problems!)
Instructions:
1. Install "Nightly Tester Tools" Addon for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/654
2. Restart Firefox
3. Go to Add-ons
4. Right Click on "Norton IPS" and choose "Override Compability"
5. A window will pop up. Press on "Force Install"
6. Restart Firefox!
DONE!
Again, use at your own risk, you may get problems with Firefox! (I did not, working fine for me!)
Note from the Author of "Nightly Tester Tools":
Don’t forget that forcing an incompatible extension to install is risky. There are many cases where Firefox will stop working completely or behave incorrectly because an incompatible extension is being forced to work where the author never intended

IPS consists of two layers, direct network scanning and browser scanning. Without the IPS 2.0 plug-in you still get the direct network scanning. Intrusion attempts that are highly fragmented, encrypted or obscured, however, can only be detected from within the browser.
I won't advise as to whether you should upgrade to 3.6 or not other than to say that I have upgraded my Firefox to 3.6.

It looks like there was an update a little while ago, and IPS is now compatible.

On Windows 7 32 bit, looks like it's a good fix, everything works as it should, no issues to report. The version number stayed the same, it's 2.0.
