Identity Safe autofill problem

Since Norton fixed the problem in NIS 2012 where IDSafe did not always autofill the login details for banking websites, everything for me seemed to be working ok.

However, one of the websites (https://www.hsbc.co.uk/) that I use now has a strange problem with IDSafe.  (See screen shot).

Login page.JPG

It's a website which has a two-page login process for access internet banking, and IDSafe holds a login id and a password for this site:

- The first page autofills my login id ok.

- The second page (see above screen shot) has two boxes for the user to fill in, and IDsafe autofills both apparently with the saved password.  All well and good, but the second box requires a 6-digit number that is different every time I log in, so I have to overwrite what IDSafe has filled in with the correct number each time.  This normally would not be a problem, except that when I press "Continue" after filling in the 6-digit number, IDSafe appears to change it to something else, so my website login fails.  It looks as if IDSafe is replacing my 6-digit number with the saved password that it has autofilled the first box with (because it is 8-characters long).

So...my question is:  How can I stop IDSafe from overwriting the 6-digit number I have entered into the second box?  Is it perhaps that IDSafe only holds two pieces of autofill information for the website (login id and password), whereas the website is actually asking for three (login id on the first page, and two extra pieces of info on the second page)?

Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Identity Safe autofill problem

By the way ... I know that I can log out of Identity Safe before going to this website's login page, or I can get Identity Ssfe to ignore the problem login page (i.e. just the second page), but that's not a very user-friendly solution as I would then have to keep typing in the login details myself every time - which defeats the purpose of having the Identity Safe autofill feature in the first place.

Re: Identity Safe autofill problem

identity safe is completely buggered and they have no idea what to do or no intention of fixing it.

I also now get this problem with secure sites where I overtype the incorrect autofill but it still forces its own autofill through.  That plus it filling in completely unrelated fields.

quite possibly the slowest developers in the world. Unless they've all been sacked!

lol....even this form process is screwed...my captcha picture is of a washing machine or something. There's a circus in the town...

Re: Identity Safe autofill problem

I have a similar problem with the website https://sec.westpac.co.nz/IOLB/Login.jsp

IDSafe logs in fine but autofills some fields in the "set up and save someone new to pay online" page. See screenshot, the green field is the problem one.( I blacked out the visible login details in Paint)

I can work around the problem by logging into the site, then log out of IDSafe before I go to the problem page.

Re: Identity Safe autofill problem

Hi D.Vivek,

Thanks for the reply and glad Symantec is aware of the problem.

I'm sure we would all appreciate a progress report from time to time, please, to let us know how Symantec is getting on solving and fixing this problem.

It is especially important as it often relates to banking sites.

Many thanks.
