When Nortons detects, say 7 threats, and only removes 4 and then you hit next and the same 3 threats come up the next time - what do you do? There are no instructions regarding this. I don't even know exactly what they are.

Hi reneeaz,
Welcome to the forum. What is the wording of the items which were ignored? They may well be tracking cookies which are ignored by default as these types of cookies are not harmful and are used by most websites.
Please tell us the exact wording of the ignored items.
Also, do you have any exclusions configured in Settings > Compuer > Scan Exclusions > Configure?
You can also check NIS history by clicking on History on the main window. Please take a look there and tell us what is listed. The most recent entries will be at the top.
Thanks
Allen

Sorry - here is more info. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2. Have Norton Internet Security 2010.
I have tried to attach a Word file as an attachment with a snapshot of the page I get when Norton's scans my computer on start-up. Same 3 messages will not repair. Won't accept my attachment. Perhaps you could explain to me how to attach a normal file.
In the meantime:
HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre
HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Database (high priority)
HKey_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\Database (high priority)
Each one says Highlighted value is issing or invalid.
Thanks.

Hi reneeaz,
Thanks for the update. For attaching files, the forum will only accept images (from the symbol at the top which looks like a green tree) or .txt/.log files (from Add Attachments link at the bottom). You can save the document from WORD as a .txt file and you will then be able to attach the file to your post.
Can you indicate your full version of NIS from Help > About? Please run Live Update from NIS until you have all updates. Run another scan.
We should also run MalwareBytes to help check your computer for infections. Please proceed as follows:
Please go to www.malwarebytes.org
1. Download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (mbam-setup.exe) free version and save it on your Desktop.
2. After downloading, double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
3. Follow the prompts and install as “default” only
4. Before the installation completes, check on the following prompts:
- Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware
5. Click “Finish.” The program will run automatically and you will be prompt to update the program before doing a scan. Please update.
6. Scan your computer thoroughly choosing a "full scan".
7. When scanning is finished click on “Show Results”
8. Make sure that all detected threats are marked with a check mark, click on "Remove Selected".
9. Restart your computer.
Please post the logs back to this thread using "add attchments" at the bottom.
Note: Sometimes the main site is blocked from attempts to download MalwareBytes. If this occurs please try to download from:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_ant
Do NOT download the Spyware Doctor which you will see on this page!
Thanks
Allen

Hi
I think the forum is having a problem with some people being able to post logs. I had someone last night who kept trying to post a log from malwarebytes and just couldn't do it. Now this person is also having problems attaching a log. However, I tried it last night in the section of the Forum that has that testing section and my attachment worked. I don't know if this section of the forum is having a problem or is it possible that malware is stopping the posting of attachments.

Norton is up to date. Have version 17.5.0.127.
Am now running the suggested malware program. Will keep you informed. Many thanks.

Hi Floplot,
Reneeaz indicated trying to attach a WORD file. This never has been allowed on the forums, it must be saved as a text file first.
