I had norton internet security installed and it worked great the whole year. Then I installed the Norton Utilities 15.0 Trial version to see how good a job it does. After both programs expired I uninstalled them and tried to run the norton removal tool but it says Norton utilities is still installed and cant continue. what do I do? I know NU is uninstalled so why wont the removal tool work?

Hello jimmytwoshoes
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
Please look around and see if you find any left over folders or files from Norton Utilities that didn't get removed. You could also try the removal tool in safe mode and see if it will run then and clean up the rest. Please reboot your computer also before trying the removal tool.
Please pick the appropriate product from this list at this site

Hi jimmytwoshoes,
You may want to try out this solution posted by erik_carlstrom - it should be valid for Norton Utilities 15, too:
By all means back up your registry beforehand!

Hi jimmytwoshoes,
If you decide that you need to delete all active traces of Norton (including NU, NIS, etc..) then you might have to get involved at the system administrator level and make some edits to the Registry, uninstall some running Symantec services, and delete some Symantec/Norton drivers that are still active.
There's an approach to thorough Norton removal that is described in Dave Taylor's blog:
How to fully remove Norton ... from [your] system
