Hey guys,
Can someone please help me, I think my computer is infected. Sometimes when Im typing the computer would freeze for a while. Moments after I will see all letters that I had typed while it was frozen coming up simultaneously. Recently, my cursor would also freeze at times and I will have to restart the computer. I recently bought the laptop and its loading a lot slower than when I first got it.I don't keep a lot of file nor download much information onto it (all is school related). However, when I run the Norton Internet Security 2012 all it ever finds is cookies but no virus. Can someone please help me clean my laptop.
Thanks

Hello curiousgirl
The symptoms you describe sound more like software conflicts (drivers perhaps, or two programs trying to do the same thing at the same time) or hardware issues, possibly RAM or hard drive, than a malware infection.

Welcome Curiousgirl,
I agree with the previous post - it doesn't sound like a malware infection, so it's likely something else.
One thing Windows isn't great about is cleaning up after itself, so after a while it needs to be powdered, fed, and burped.
Norton has a simple and easy-to-use Do It Yourself Power Boost guide that is a handy resource to use for anyone at any skill level.

Try cleaning up the clutter, like the temp files, temporary internet files, running disk clean-up, taking out unnecessary start-up items - just follow the steps outlined in the above link (it's for Windows 7 and Vista operating systems; click where indicated on the page to toggle over to instructions for how to tune up XP systems). My niece had a computer that was showing the same symptoms - all it needed was a little cleaning and tweaking. If that doesn't do the trick, you may not be running enough memory.
Let us know how it goes. If the problem persists, let us know the operating system you're using, amount of memory, and other details and we'll see if we can help from there. In any case, it doesn't sound like a Norton issue.
Regards,
Kelly
Good luck!
Kelly
