Do I need to remove Norton AntiVirus 2011 before installing 2012?

For minimal conflict yes.  I always prefer to uninstall the product completely (using add/remove AND the Norton Removal Tool)before upgrading.

1. Download the Norton AntiVirus installer from www.norton.com/nav12.  Download the Norton removal tool from www.norton.com/nuc.
2. Disconnect PC from web.
3. Uninstall Norton AntiVirus through add/remove programs, opting to delete all data.
4. Reboot
5. Run the Norton Removal Tool.
6. Reboot
7. Re-run the Norton Removal Tool.
8. Reboot
9. Install Norton AntiVirus from installer (right click and select run as admin).
10. Run LiveUpdate until no updates appear, rebooting as necessary.
11. Run full scan to avoid being nagged by Norton.

Hi Shane,

Norton Antivirus 2012 is designed to install seamlessly over NAV 2011 and to preserve your settings.  It is the recommended way to upgrade unless you are having problems with your current installed version.  You do not need to remove the older version first if everything is working properly for you.
