Hi, I have Yahoo messenger and Windows Live messenger installed. However, NIS doesn't seem to find the Windows version on my computer. The checkbox is grayed out when I try to enable it. I also tried "Check for new instant messenger programs" but NIS doesn't find that program on my computer. Can anyone help with this option?

I have exactly the same issue. Win 7 x64.
I actually thought it's to do with the fact that Norton products are still not native 64-bit applications. Other security products that are native 64-bit applications do not present this issue on my pc, only Norton, hence the rather unscientific conclusion on my part.
Perhaps someone will give us the correct answer?

I also have Windows 7, 64-bit. When I bought my computer, both NIS and MSN were installed already. I just had to do the updates for both. So I guess they should be compatible, but who knows.

NIS 2012 only recognises Windows Live Messenger versions 6.0 thru 14.0. It only recognises Yahoo messenger versions 5.0 - 6.1 and 9.0 and above. Perhaps this will answer your question. Thanks.
