Interaction between NIS2011 and monitor card slots?

Just installed NIS2011. One issue I notice is that the card slots on my Dell monitor are no longer active. Here's what the Device Manager looks like (the card slots are listed under Portable Devices):

Device Manager Screencap

Has anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks.

What happen if you uninstall those drivers and restart your computer. That will perhaps make windows7 recognize then. Btw are you still within warantee so that you can contact Dell and have a chat with their tech guys

Re: Interaction between NIS2011 and monitor card slots?

Thanks Tywin7. The uninstall/reboot/rediscover worked to restore those card slots. I'm not even sure if NIS 2011 was the culprit. After noticing the issue, I first uninstalled NIS 2011 but still had the problem. I then did the uninstall/reboot/rediscover to restore the card slots, then installed NIS 2011, rebooted, and didn't see any further problems :smileyhappy:

I've been thinking and just refreshing device manager through the f5 key or clicking on scan for device changes would have suffice.

Re: Interaction between NIS2011 and monitor card slots?

The "Scan for Hardware Changes" was the first thing I tried. However I got a series of 3 beeps for each of the four "slots" that it tried to fix. In fact it was the "beeps" that first alerted me that there was a problem. These were not POST beeps, but happened when my Windows desktop was just starting to be displayed. I didn't know what they were coming from. I just happened to look in the Device Manager and saw that that's where the problem was. Glad it's working again.

Does the beep sound like da da da dum? I mean run the scan for hardware changes AFTER uninstallation. That way you wouldn't have to reboot the computer... But if reboot works, hey!
